She prays briefly over the wasted carcasses, planting a totem on the head of the nearest one. An envious Naru leaves home with Sarii in secret the next day to hunt she comes across a herd of skinned bison. Taabe carries her home and returns to finish off the weakened lion, a deed for which he is honored by the chieftain and the rest of the tribe. She manages to trap the lion but falls and strikes her head after being distracted by a burst of light. Taabe however stays behind to find the mountain lion and complete the hunt. They retrieve their wounded tribe member and depart, the mountain lion having apparently been spooked off by an unknown stalker that follows and observes the hunters while collecting the skulls of several local predatory species. Taabe agrees to take her with him as he leads a search party for the mountain lion that attacked one of the tribe's hunters. While tracking deer with her dog Sarii, she witnesses the arrival of a "thunderbird" in the sky (in reality a Predator ship dropping off a hunter), taking it as a sign that she is ready to prove herself. Naru herself is quite skilled in using a tomahawk as a thrown weapon. In September of 1719, somewhere across the Northern Great Plains of North America, Naru, a young Comanche woman trained as a healer, dreams of becoming a great hunter like her brother, Taabe. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advance arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. Review by Kyle Cooper on behalf of DC World.Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, "Prey" is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. This proves once and for all, that strong female characters are here to stay, and help drive the superhero genre forward for many many years. The film oozes charisma – it’s colourful, fun, entertaining and straight-up action-packed! Her actions propel the story forward and set off a chain of events that brings together the brilliant Dinah Lance, played by the incredible Jurnee Smollett-Bell, the cool & mysterious Helena Bertinelli (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and the gritty, tough GCPD cop Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez).Īll three of these characters have separate agendas but can’t help being dragged into the mess Harley constantly finds herself in.Įverything about this film works, and the soundtrack portrays the tone of the film exceptionally. However, the way Harley goes about this puts a big target on her back, which winds up impacting a host of new character’s – one of these being young pick pocketer Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco). We eventually end up with Harley closing the book on the Joker chapter of her life, meaning she is now ready to embrace the fresh start. We find Harley masking the break up with various stages of relatable grief. Harley now finds herself alone and what used to keep her safe, the immunity she once had being associated with the Joker, has gone. ![]() The breakdown of Harley and The Joker’s relationship is unbeknown to the crime lords of Gotham city, including Ewan McGregor’s brilliant Roman Sionis and his henchman Victor Zsasz. How has she done this you ask? Because Margot Robbie IS Harley FREAKING Quinn! Jump four years into the present and it’s hard to argue that not only is she one of the most famous actresses in the world, but she’s also one of the most iconic faces of the DC franchise, holding her own with the likes of Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman. When Margot Robbie burst onto our screens in 2016’s Suicide Squad, any doubts about her casting were quickly diminished.
